Things don't always go as planned.

Sometimes you do just about everything right, but win the game.  Sometimes life is not fair and sometimes you don’t always get what you deserve.  Last nights game was one of those days.  We did almost everything right except score the goals and conceded a goal against the run of play.  I think yesterday we could have played two games and not scored.  Sometimes it just goes that way, don’t ask me why.  If I could answer that question I could make a fortune selling the answer to all the coaches around the world.

I think last night was the best we have passed the ball as a team all season.  Probably the least busy I have been the whole season, but the first game I lost.  Like I just said above,  sports don’t always make sense.  One thing holds true, if you out play your opponents, more often than not, you will win more often than not.  Yesterday was the exception.  Goes to show you how cruel this game can be, for 99% of the game we were totally switched on defensively.  We turned off for one second and we were one nil down and couldn’t  find our way back.  Speaking with some of my friends from Chivas after the game they knew they got out played and were lucky to get the result.

It’s gut check time for a new team.  Can some guys step up to turn it around?  I have all the faith in the world that the team will rebound sooner rather than later.  We will sharpen up the intensity and the discipline.  Before you know it we will all be toasting another Sounders victory!

Kasey.. You guys played one hell of a game. If we keep that up, the wins will come flowing in. Keep up the great work!

Kasey, as soon as that game finished on Sat I knew I couldn’t wait to read your blog because I knew it would put everything into perspective. (You know, after I controlled the urge to start, what I imagine would be Tacoma’s fist soccer riot.) Our team is so lucky to have you as a captain. And man, it sure does feel better to know that your Chivas friends knew they were outplayed!
Thanks for your insightful updates, I always love to hear your perspective!

That was the best dominating game ive seen from you guys, but i think what all us fans really hate to see is the other team trying to run out the clock. in a competetive veiw it makes sense but in a sportsman like attitude it really makes anyone look bad. especially picking up a ball like a 9 year old and holding it at your side, to argue with the ref cuz you didnt like the call. I honestly think that in extended time there should be a rule that a team in the lead (if any) should not be allowed to hold the ball more than 3 seconds. anyhow great game, unfortunate goal, but all in all you still didnt let that ball go by that easy.

Kasey- I think you said it. Discipline is key here. I am getting tired of watching guys feed off of each others complaining. I understand that there is a frustration factor that brews, but week after week it is so clear that some players are more focused on the officals rather than the other team, which is creating opportunities for guys to get behind straight to goal. The fear is that we are creating, or have created already; a reputation of whiners and complainers – and that can drag with you from game to game.

Is this something that Sigi needs to deal with or is this a locker room issue that can be addressed internally with the team.

Go get things turned around against San Jose! Keep playing strong Kasey – we are behind you.

    Kasey,

How much of a difference is there in the officiating between Europe and the MLS? How much of a problem do you think it is for the league?
