After reading about the resent Kaka deal, a friend asked me how much the Sounders players make a year. With only a little research I found the following:
Doing some quick math I found that the median salary is $65k but was shocked to see that regular Sanna Nyassi is making a paltry $20k. Now I know in these tough economic times people would kill to be paid $20k to play soccer, but isn’t there a league minimum or is the information on this site only giving part of the salary picture?
You may not be able to comment on this one way or another, but I do find it funny when I have recently read complaints that some players seem to have forgotten that they are getting paid a lot of money to play a game and their effort isn’t there.
Looking at the salaries, I would say that only you and Freddy (Ljungberg) could fall into the well paid category… and I would not question either of your efforts (not that I am questioning the efforts of the rest of the lads myself).
Win, lose or tie, from a soccer fan prospective, the games have been very entertaining. I was a season ticket holder for the Galaxy when I lived in LA ( I love soccer not the Galaxy) and some of those games would almost put me to sleep in my seat; I have yet to sit in my seat at Qwest and we are 7 games in.
I am a huge fan of both you and the team; tell the boys to keep their chins up, the results will come.
