Hey everybody,
A pretty good day back at training. Looks like everyone took the time off to reflect upon the result. Looked like a new focus today at training. We looked at the video of the game, both the good and the bad. I have a good feeling that everything happens for a reason, and we are going to be a better team in the end because of the game the other night. It looks like the injury Brad Evans sustained isn’t as bad as first anticipated. Lets hope the MRI confirms this, and we welcome him back sooner rather than later.
Had a cool speaking engagement tonight at Qwest for the box holders. A little soccer 101 for the box holders and fans that might be newer to the sport. Sigi did a little presentation on the basic rules of the game. James Riley, Evan Brown, and Sebastien Letoux all gave insight. I MCed the event and also gave a few stories myself. Adrian Hanauer helped answer some of the business and MLS technical questions. Overall, a great panel, some great questions and I think a good time had by all.
Picked up the car today. Had a small heart attack with the bill, but it is running well. Lets hope this continues. Now I have to get the plates switched over. Tried to do this the other day. Apparently I had the right paper work to take possession of the car from the Port, but not the right paper work to register the car with the State of Washington. You got to love government bureaucracy.
Looking forward to another good day of training tomorrow. Body feels great and long may that last. Go away rain! I’m ready for the summer!
Remember Seattle:” If it moves kick it, and if it doesn’t move, kick it until it moves!”
Kasey

Unlucky last Saturday…lots of chances went missing. But on to the next match. Does the team’s training change because of the altitude in Denver?
Kasey,
Love the blog. will continue reading it as you post new stuff. Thanks for your insights into the game. It’s refreshing to see the lighter side of a soccer professional!!
Thanks for the blog, Kasey. Sweet that you respond to some questions…I’m hoping you can respond to mine:
Do you guys ever practice a 4-3-3 formation? Similar to Barca, I can see Evans, Alonso and Ljungberg in the middle with Zakuani, Montero/Jaqua, Le Toux up front. I think we have the skill to learn a free flowing attacking style and let Le Toux roam a bit (similar to messi) b/c he’s such a workhorse and covers the field well.
IMHO, I think this would better leverage our individual player’s strengths. You + back four + Alonso are already rock solid. With Evans and Zakuani on the left side, Evans is a stronger defender and can allow Zakuani to stay beyond the midlield line and run counter attacks through him. On the right side, Ljungberg isn’t as strong on defense but Le Toux can cover well when needed so they make another great pairing.
Can you share if this has been practiced/considered by the coaching staff? I really do feel there is potential with this formation. Welcome your thougths if possible. Thanks again for the blog!
Great line Kasey. Do you know if the event last night was taped? I would love to see the forum and hear what everyone had to say.
Let’s hope Cosmo Boy is back on the pitch soon.
So if you’re looking for topics for this site in the future, here’s one I’d love to hear your thoughts on. When do you think we might see an American managing in a top level (I’ll leave “top level” undefined for now) European League? And what route will that person take? That is, a former player with an established reputation in Europe such as yourself, Claudio, Brian, or Brad going up the ladder from assistant to head coach? Or someone with head coaching experience in MLS? Or a combination? I’m guessing it will be the former, since even a known quantity in Europe like Steve Nicol can’t seem to generate interest among Europen clubs.
And two quick questions:
Has Ljungberg ever scored a goal on you, in England or even int’l duty?
If there were a European Club Football Hall of Fame, and you were inducted, which of your European club jersey’s would you want to have depicted in your engraving? (Sorry – MLS jersies not allowed in this mythical hall of fame)
Hey, can we get that slogan on a bumper sticker?
Funny that the box holders don’t know Soccer 101, but good on them for purchasing them. I know the team wouldn’t survive without all that money.
Hey Kasey love watching you play and take command.
Couple of quick things.
1. Do you think you might have some pull with the FO to release your GK jeresy for purchase? I know being a “retired” keep myself that’s the one jersey I look for first when looking at buying.
2. What kind of car??
Keep up the great work and stay between the posts!
Hey Kasey, just found your blog – thanks for doing this! Awesome to hear your input on the games. You’re my mom’s favorite player.
My brother is a goal-keeper and apparently he got some training from Dutra. Dutra was yelling at him that he had to reach shots at the upper V. My brother is looking for a job so if you know anything let me know!
Take care!
