Hey Everybody,

After some moving around and a change of scenery I’m back to the blog on FSN.  After a great extra time cup win to take us to the Open Cup Final we are back in action at Qwest against the East leading Chicago Fire.  My good friend and past national team teammate,Brian McBride is injured and won’t be making the trip from the Midwest.    Chicago are one of those rare teams that have a better away record than home record.  We are the opposite, so this should make for a tough game.

Just a little recap after the Chelsea match. It was tremendous to see the stadium full, and the atmosphere the fans created.  My long term goal for the Sounders is to have every match sold to capacity and have real grass permanently in place for all of our games.  The reason we had to put in real grass is that a lot of teams, especially European teams, won’t play on turf.  One of the drawbacks of playing on temporary grass like that is that it isn’t very stable.  I was almost punished in the first half when my foot got stuck in one of the seams of the grass, but luckily I got the ball away and to safety.  By far, we have the best artificial turf in the league, but nothing beats a good natural grass surface for the game.

We seem to be in pretty good shape physically even with all the Cup games.  Sigi has almost a full squad to choose from.  This is good for the team as we charge head first into the second half of the season.  Let’s keep this good run going and get within one point of Houston at the top of the West.

After the match tomorrow, the team gets a few days off for the All Star Game.  Freddie, Fredy, Jhon , and myself will be going down to Salt Lake to represent the Sounders in the All-Star Game.  Before I head down south, the Navy has given me the great honor of flying in the number 7 jet of the Blue Angels!  Once in a lifetime experience.  It could be the most fun I have ever throwing up.  My marketing company Rezin has really hooked me up with this one!
